Wall Street Journal: Iran War Could Continue Until 2029 .. Trump Bets on a Swift Resolution

Al-Taj News – The Wall Street Journal reported, citing US officials, that senior White House advisers secretly discussed with President Donald Trump the possibility that the war with Iran could continue throughout the remainder of his term.

According to the newspaper, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and other officials raised the scenario of Tehran continuing to resist pressure, which could leave the conflict open beyond the inauguration date in 2029.

This scenario comes despite Trump’s repeated statements to his aides about his desire to resolve the war quickly, at a time when he supports a long-term economic blockade aimed at forcing the Iranian regime to dismantle its nuclear program.

Trump: Iran War Will End Immediately After Midterm Elections

In a position that appears to contradict the scenario of a prolonged war, Trump said Wednesday evening that the war with Iran was likely to end “immediately” after the US midterm elections in November, considering that Tehran would not be able to hold out much longer.

Trump accused Iran of “trying to influence” the elections, affirming that he was not looking forward to an agreement with it and that he was doing something “bigger than the nuclear deal,” warning that “the whole world will face a big problem if Iran obtains a nuclear weapon.”
